FANCY A CHANGE FROM YOUR SPECIES PACKAGE SURVEY?
Storms and rough seas can clear huge areas of rocky shores, with strong waves dislodging communities. As the intensity and number of storms is predicted to rise with climate change, we want to know if these species can recover from the damage.
We are looking for volunteers to conduct a survey looking at how biological communities recover from storm disturbance and whether there are patterns across the UK in how recovery occurs. We also want to know how long it takes for the community that was there before the disturbance to re-establish
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Step 1: Watch the training video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzbB4b6m0Z4. This short video provides more information about the science behind the survey and takes you through the method step by step.
Step 2: Complete the training quiz here: https://www.qzzr.com/c/quiz/215622/race-to-recovery-monitoring. This short quiz makes sure you are happy with the method. Feel free to use the method sheet to help you as you take the quiz and you can repeat it as many times as needed.
Step 3: Get in touch with your local CoCoast hub to find out when and where surveys are taking place!
