Crab Hunts

Field Support Day and Crab Hunts!

Our Field Support Days are an opportunity for trained CoCoast volunteers to practise their survey skills and ask the CoCoast team any questions they may have whilst on the shore. So if you would like assistance with species ID, wanting to clarify bits of the survey protocol, or just wanting to do a transect with us nearby, this is the perfect opportunity! Whilst on the shore you will also have the chance to participate in our Crab Hunt!

Join us as we search the shore for different crab species and check them for egg masses and for the parasitic barnacle, Sacculina carcini. The data that we collect will help CoCoast to find out if crab species reproduce at different times around the UK.

If you would like to attend this field support day/crab hunt please let the team know so that we can provide you with specific details about the day such as times and where to meet. Email cocoast@hull.ac.uk or call mobile 07496 477417.
